Once you have sent in your ideas and guest information, you’ll receive an email advising of the starting price for your cake. From there, we will book your consultation and begin your journey with Posh & Cake.
The consultation is designed to be an open, inviting, and welcoming experience, where we freely collaborate on ideas, discuss design options, and explore the details for your ideal cake.
During the call, it is really important for us to build a relationship with you, to generate ideas which will complement your personality and the occasion. Through collaboration and creative ideation, we will explore concepts in terms of mood, textures, and colours, as well as harmonising the cake design with the floristry and venue style. If you’re unsure on where to begin, we’ll tease out the things which you value most: that might be the colour or the structure, or maybe even the flavour.
For inspiration, you can look at our display cakes to help you determine the size, shape, and decoration you feel is most akin to your needs.
A tasting experience is the perfect way to align the flavours of your cake with its design, and the sentiments of the day.
There are two options for the tasting experience:
1. Order a cake box
This allows you taste up to 5 cake flavours of your choice from our cake menu. With this option, you can enjoy the tasting experience in the comfort and warmth of your home, along with your family and friends – simply order as many boxes as you need.
The box is delivered straight to your door with next day delivery. Once you book your cake with us following the cake tasting box order, we will deduct the cost of one box (minus postage) from your cake value if the price of the cake is over £800.
2. Book an in-person tasting experience
This option can be combined with your bespoke consultation, where we will discuss your ideas whilst indulging in all the wonderful flavours on the menu. This is a great option if you would like a more personalised, intimate experience (group size is max. 4 people).
The cost per couple is £60 (£30/person). Complementary hot and cold refreshments are also provided. Once you have booked your cake following the tasting experience, the costs of the consultation will be deducted from your cake value if the price of the cake is over £800.
Following the consultation, we produce the cake design via a sketch, capturing and enhancing the details which were discussed during the consultation. If helpful, a couple of different designs will be produced to show the versatility of your ideas – it is wonderful to get creative, and step outside of the box, or give traditional motifs a new lease of life.
Whichever composition you opt for, the goal is to cultivate and bring to life the unique, luxurious cake of your dreams and deliver lasting memories.
During our next video call, you are shown the first drafts of the sketches, and we’ll collaborate to determine any changes or alterations needed. Once you are happy with the design, then it’s onto the booking.
Upon the booking, the final sketch is supplied to you. Once you are happy with the complete design proposal, you will be supplied with the booking information. This will include the cake specifications (size, number of tiers, flavours, design details) as well as the total price and information regarding our Terms and Conditions. From here, you will be directed to book and pay for the cake (please note, the booking fee is non-refundable).
The benefit of our highly bespoke and flexible consultation service is that minor design amendments can be accommodated up to 5 weeks prior to your event date.
That being said, please note that Posh & Cake generally require a minimum of 6 months’ notice to design and create a bespoke cake. This is because we dedicate a significant amount of time to each order, to ensure each cake is crafted delicately, precisely, and to an exceptional standard.
All cakes are made from scratch, fresh in the kitchen, and decorated with care. The ingredients are completely natural, organic, and responsibly sourced, locally. We only use the finest quality ingredients in all elements of your cake – from the sponges to the homemade curds and sauces which compose the filling, and the icing and appliqué on the exterior.
Close to the event date, we begin by baking the sponge, layering it with filling, and coating the cake in the finest Belgian chocolate ganache. From there, the cake is covered with professional sugar paste, and given time to set.
Once it is set, the real artistry begins. The decoration transforms the white canvas into a sweet piece of art. Depending on the design, at this stage we might be adding delicate, handmade and skilfully crafted flowers and foliage. Or, you might prefer to opt for piped lace patterns, with paints, textures, and sparkles.
The artwork is a labour of love; the intricacy of the design and the decorations required will determine the time needed to complete your cake. Considerable effort and dedication goes into our craft, with every cake made. Each step is expertly executed for precise and neat work - we guarantee clean lines and an iconic silhouette with every piece.
We are wholly responsible for the delivery and setup of your cake. We will personally drive to your venue, and ensure that the installation process run smoothly, from start to finish. We want to make sure that your cake arrives safely and is presented in the best way possible.
